Universal Credit Training Session

We were delighted to welcome Chris Hulse, Partnership Manager, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), to Wai Yin Society Head Quarters, on Wednesday 18th October, to deliver training on the new Universal Credit System. Our team of AQS accredited advice workers, other staff and volunteers (17 attended the training), listened to how the new online claim system will work, and how we might best help our clients understand and navigate the new system confidently, without unnecessary delays and difficulties.

Wai Yin Society recently celebrated the commitment and hard work of all staff and volunteers (including the Trustees) at the annual appreciation lunch on Friday 6th October 2017. More than ninety participants were in attendance including friends and family.

Manchester Half Marathon Fundraiser

I would like to inform you that Woon Cheng has raised £560 from running the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 15th October, and she completed it in 2hours and 30 minutes!   We would like to give her a big thanks for her fantastic effort, to raise money for Wai Yin Society, and also to prepare for this race event.

Radio Sheung Lok -ALL FM – Bronze Award

I am delighted to announce that Radio Sheung Lok – ALL FM received the Bronze Award for Community Development Project of the year from the national Community Radio Awards on Saturday 23th September, which took place in Bristol, South West England. A panel of over 50 judges drawn from the BBC, commercial radio, community radio, other media and also academia selected the best programmes and stations from more than 350 entries from 70 community radio stations, and from every corner of the UK.
