We were delighted to welcome Chris Hulse, Partnership Manager, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), to Wai Yin Society Head Quarters, on Wednesday 18th October, to deliver training on the new Universal Credit System.
Our team of AQS accredited advice workers, other staff and volunteers (17 attended the training), listened to how the new online claim system will work, and how we might best help our clients understand and navigate the new system confidently, without unnecessary delays and difficulties. There was a useful question and answer session, and Chris emphasised the value of Wai Yin Society’s work as a partner, especially our advice workers at our Welcome Centre, in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, who take on a lot of referrals from other agencies in and around the area.
Universal Credit Full Service (UCFS) will be rolled out across Greater Manchester by LA area with the final date being August 2018. However as UCFS is an agile programme, and elements of the services are still being developed, some customers, depending on their circumstances, may continue to receive legacy benefits. It is envisaged that the national implementation programme for Universal Credit Full Service will be completed for all customer groups by 2022.
In future, anyone wishing to make a new claim for benefits can only do so on-line via Universal Credit. If you need claims assistance, due to digital (ICT), language barriers etc, please do not hesitate to contact us, at Wai Yin Society.
