We has a great time participating in Elders Exchange Day on Sunday 01 October.
Part of National Older People’s Day and the Age of Creativity Festival, this is a national initiative, England’s first nationwide festival celebrating older people as makers and artists!
The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, welcomed over 800 people into their building on Deansgate, city centre, to take part in conversations, improvisation, movement and writing workshops, screen printing as well as performers who presented Tai Chi, spoken word and a singing concert.
Our elderly group from Sheung Lok Wellbeing Centre gave a wonderful Tai Chi demonstration performance, and some of our staff, volunteers and service users from Sheung Lok All FM Radio also broadcast on the day.
Here’s a link to Storify – an application which captured the day as it unfolded on social media: https://storify.com/rxtheatre/elders-exchange-day
From this auspicious start, we look forward to the Elders programme developing and growing in popularity in future years.
