Welcome to Wai Yin Society

Wai Yin was founded in 1988 as Wai Yin Chinese Women’s Society by a group of Hong Kong and Chinese women with a community consciousness and a commitment to women’s rights and development. We exist to help the underprivileged, those discriminated against, and present a fair and kind face to the people that we help. We have done this proudly for over 35 years, and we are one of the pillars of Mancunian society. Over 35 years, as Manchester and the wider North West of England grew more diverse, through immigration from other parts of the UK and the world, we too have expanded our services, and we now serve the wider ethnically diverse community, dropping “Chinese Women’s Society” from our name, as we serve now more than just women, or indeed, more nationalities than just the Chinese: broadening our help to include all minorities such as Somalis, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Indians, and other European nationals.
