Carers Manchester Carers Manchester is a partnership of statutory and voluntary organisations, working together to improve services for Manchester’s unwaged carers. This partnership has developed a new pathway for carers in the city to receive advice, guidance and support. We are a group of volunteers supporting people affected by cancer. As the need in the community is growing bigger, we need people like you to volunteer your time in whatever way you can. There are many ways to get involved, and some of which are home-based, like talking with someone over the phone, providing emotional support, or general chatting.  Your help with practical support, such as cooking a meal, cleaning or gardening would also be appreciated. North Manchester Network (Wai Yin Society)

We are pleased to announce the start of a new project on Monday 6th July 2020. Our Wai Yin Society work provides welfare advice sessions, and community/employment skills for young people within the Harpurhey and Cheetham Hill areas and local BAME/migrant communities. This is part of the COVID-19 recovery plan. Ambition for Ageing – Ageing Equally?

We are delighted to announce that the Wai Yin Society has been commissioned by Ambition for Ageing (AfA), as one of ten organisations, to deliver a research project as part of a wider programme, “Ageing Equally?” We will be researching how Chinese older people in Manchester, especially disabled people and those who speak different community languages, can grow old and happy Specifically, we will be exploring traditional Chinese beliefs of growing old, as well as difficulties faced by the older disadvantaged Chinese community in their daily lives, and gaps in services provided in order to reduce isolation and loneliness. Sheung Lok Radio (All FM 96.9) Training

We are delighted to offer training in radio production (bi-lingual) to new volunteers.  Thanks are due to funding from Ambition for Ageing. We will train you in all aspects of radio production, including driving the desk, designing your own show, radio law, interview techniques etc. Our training is designed to prepare you for your live show so you have all the skills and confidence to broadcast independently. Day Trip to Chatsworth House

Chatsworth House is a stately home in Derbyshire, England, in the Derbyshire Dales 3.5 miles northeast of Bakewell and 9 miles west of Chesterfield. The seat of the Duke of Devonshire, it has been home to the Cavendish family since 1549. In the film, ‘Pride and Prejudice’, Chatsworth was used as Pemberley, the residence of Mr Darcy.
