We Need You! The First 1000 Days project is designed to support everyone around the baby during this important time to ensure the infant’s healthy development and give them a positive start in life. North Manchester Network (Wai Yin Society)

We are pleased to announce the start of a new project on Monday 6th July 2020. Our Wai Yin Society work provides welfare advice sessions, and community/employment skills for young people within the Harpurhey and Cheetham Hill areas and local BAME/migrant communities. This is part of the COVID-19 recovery plan. Day Trip to Chatsworth House

Chatsworth House is a stately home in Derbyshire, England, in the Derbyshire Dales 3.5 miles northeast of Bakewell and 9 miles west of Chesterfield. The seat of the Duke of Devonshire, it has been home to the Cavendish family since 1549. In the film, ‘Pride and Prejudice’, Chatsworth was used as Pemberley, the residence of Mr Darcy. Day Trip to Liverpool

Parents’ Wellbeing Group

We have started a parents’ group which will be running for five consecutive weeks on Tuesdays from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. This group welcomes all Chinese speaking mothers. It will be focusing on the improvement of their well-being, while reducing parental stress with mindfulness activities such as meditation. Parenting Talks

Wai Yin Society will be giving two parenting talks, this month, at our Dr Sylvia Sham Centre. The first is on Thursday 21st June 2018, 10:30-13:00. The second will be on Thursday 28th June, 10:30-13:00. The subject matters are, “Cultural Adaptation in the Growth and Life of British Chinese Adolescents” and “Intergenerational Communication between Parents and Children of Chinese families in the UK” respectively. Writing the Future Project Celebration Event

Wai Yin Society is dedicated to provide services to Black Minority Ethnic communities in Greater Manchester, and our Family Unit delivers projects to address the needs of BME families, including Dealing with Crisis, supporting, family welfare and Youth work. As a part of that, we operate the Writing the Future Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Writing the Future

We were delighted to host part our Lottery Heritage Funded Project – Writing the Future (Young Roots) in partnership with Manchester Museum on 16th September 2017. This took the shape of a Family Fun day for interested members of the public. There were over 100 participants on the day and they all had the opportunity to try Cantonese Chinese calligraphy, Cantonese speaking and Chinese ink blowing.
