Writing the Future Project Celebration Event

Wai Yin Society is dedicated to provide services to Black Minority Ethnic communities in Greater Manchester,  and our Family Unit delivers projects to address the needs of BME families, including Dealing with Crisis, supporting, family welfare and Youth work.

As a part of that, we operate the Writing the Future Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.  The aim of this project is to support young Chinese people to understand more about Traditional Chinese characters and Cantonese speaking. This project started in January 2017 and young people are meeting regularly to carry out research, attending workshops for different skills and having team-building events to strengthen their team work and confidence.

Recently (27th November 2017), we invited organisations that provide opportunities to communities in the North West,  to a special Celebration Event of presentations by our young people, speeches, and a buffet.  Some 83 people attended; our young people gave confident polished performances, and awareness was raised of this very important aspect of heritage and identity. Once again, we would like to thank the Heritage Lottery Fund for their vital support.
