International Women’s Day 2024
March 12th, 2024 | CEO's Blog |
I was delighted to speak at an event on Friday 8th March at the salubrious Portico Library, with curator Iris Yau, and hosted by Carol-Ann Whitehead, Portico Library Trustee and Managing Director of the Zebra Partnership. The talks were entitled “International Women on International Women’s Day” and it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and recognise all the amazing women in our community! I spoke specifically about the Wai Yin “Crossing the Border Project” about their migration journeys to Manchester. The next morning, we joined up with other organisations in the City Centre for the annual “Walk for Women”
Love in action: no place for hate
February 27th, 2024 | CEO's Blog |
I had the privilege recently of speaking and sharing our experiences at an event organised by CARITAS. Greater Manchester’s Hate Crime Awareness Week takes place annually. The aim of the week is to raise awareness of hate crime, while also encouraging victims to report hate crime incidents in the city-region. I encourage anyone suffering incidents to contact community centres such as ours where we have qualified staff committed to tackling abuse, and can provide emotional support in a safe and confidential space.
