A visit to the Chatsworth House on 8th August 2019

On Thursday 8th August 2019 Way Yin’s members, ETE learners, Motiv8 participants and families from the Manchester Maya Project visited Chatsworth House in the Peak District.  The group travelled in two coaches from the Welcome Centre in Cheetham Hill and the Dr Sylvia Sham Centre in Manchester city centre.   We were very lucky as the weather was absolutely beautiful which meant that we were able to spend a lot of time exploring the beautiful gardens on foot and by the land train.  We saw all the famous features, including the amazing Emperor Fountain and the Cascade, and we also ate […]

Wai Yin Courses in Salford

Wai Yin are proud to report that we have had a second successful term of courses in Salford in partnership with Salford City College’s Community Learning Team. This term we have built on the success over the spring term and run three courses, two ESOL courses and one ICT course. Our ICT course was called First Steps in ICT and was aimed at absolute beginners or those who are nervous about taking their first steps into the digital world. Wai Yin Society is a delivery partner of the Motiv8 programme, providing holistic support to empower and support Motiv8 participants. This includes IT classes, work club support, money and debt advice, ESOL courses and befriending, lunch and leisure classes. Motiv8 transforms people’s lives by helping them overcome the challenges and barriers they face to get back on track. By improving people’s wellbeing, confidence and employability skills, we increase people’s chances of accessing training or finding a job. Parents’ Wellbeing Group

We have started a parents’ group which will be running for five consecutive weeks on Tuesdays from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. This group welcomes all Chinese speaking mothers. It will be focusing on the improvement of their well-being, while reducing parental stress with mindfulness activities such as meditation. Manchester BME Network Awards 2017

We are pleased to announce that Wai Yin Society received two awards at the Manchester BME Network awards ceremony, on Thursday 9 February 2017, to showcase and reward the work being done by members & supporters. Our Welcome Centre, on Cheetham Hill, won an award for the fantastic work being done, by staff and volunteers, for people in one of the most disadvantaged areas in the country.
