We were delighted to host a group of students from the Manchester School of Architecture, in an exciting partnership, for several months at our Welcome Community Centre in Cheetham Hill.
Our aim was to come up with some innovative solutions to the homeless problem in Greater Manchester. One solution was a very low cost housing pod made from recycled materials that can comfortably sleep one person. Another was an IKEA style design manual to enable construction of, again, very low cost buildings for the homeless to use. We would like to congratulate the students on pushing forward the boundaries, and their magnificent attitude to solving this huge challenge to our civilised society.
