The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) from Portugal visit Age Friendly Cities – Manchester

Age-Friendly Manchester is a partnership involving organisations, groups and individuals across the city playing their part in making Manchester a great place to grow older. It was approached by people from the Portuguese organisation of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) who wanted to come to Manchester in November to find out more about Age Friendly work.

Knowing that Manchester is the leading UK city in Age Friendly issues, they wanted to learn more about the city’s general projects and programmes. And as part of their visit on 20 November, they specifically asked to meet with Wai Yin Society regarding our well-being project.

It was my pleasure to welcome the visitors to our Sheung Lok Centre.  They are from professional backgrounds such as social workers, nurses and community workers. Sharing learning on Wai Yin’s history, services, health and social care, and cultural development,  it was also a fun time together with song singing in both Chinese and Portuguese. We were delighted to  participate in the exchange, and a useful day was experienced by all.
