We were pleased to welcome a delegation of visitors from Jiangxi Provincial Women’s Federation, People’s Republic of China, to our offices on Friday 27th October.
We explained in a series of presentations and discussions the needs and challenges that we, and our service users, faced since our beginnings in Chinatown some 30 years ago to Chinese women and their families in order that they participate fully in British life; the vastly expanded services (including health and social care, anti-poverty, welfare advice, family support, youth work, ESOL lessons) that we now deliver from our three Centres in Greater Manchester to people of many ethnic minorities and cultures.
Some of the issues of common interest are the UK’s health and social care model, charity law, gender equality and women’s education, training and employment opportunities.
We are convinced that these exchanges will help develop our mutual understanding, and strenthen international friendship and cultural communication between China and the UK.
