CONTENT WARNING: Topics discussed in this video include mental health and depression. Wai Yin Society was established in 1988 to support Chinese women in need. For much of our lifetime, we have also supported our older generations, ensuring that their wisdom and values are respected and continued. We help our older citizens to feel less isolated and alone, especially in this time of social uprooting. Lan and Lily are two of our older service users who regularly visit our Sheung Lok Wellbeing Centre. Hear their stories as they talk about their experiences with depression and social isolation, and how our services have helped them to integrate with the community and build their social confidence. Lan talks about her experiences in a new country, unable to speak the language and the impact on her wellbeing. Lily talks about coming to Manchester and her experience of living in a new city, with her family dispersed in different areas. Both women visited Wai Yin’s Sheung Lok Wellbeing Centre with different needs and found the staff to be of immense support. Wai Yin Society supports women from all ethnic minority groups across Greater Manchester. This video is supported by Lloyds Bank Foundation in England and Wales.
