Universal Credit Training Session

We were delighted to welcome Chris Hulse, Partnership Manager, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), to Wai Yin Society Head Quarters, on Wednesday 18th October, to deliver training on the new Universal Credit System. Our team of AQS accredited advice workers, other staff and volunteers (17 attended the training), listened to how the new online claim system will work, and how we might best help our clients understand and navigate the new system confidently, without unnecessary delays and difficulties. Annual Staff and Volunteer Appreciation Lunch 2017

Wai Yin Society recently celebrated the commitment and hard work of all staff and volunteers (including the Trustees) at the annual appreciation lunch on Friday 6th October 2017. More than ninety participants were in attendance including friends and family. Heart warming speeches were made, and certificates awarded to all our star volunteers. The event was a great success! We celebrated the hard work and achievements of all our staff, and especially volunteers without whom we could not survive and flourish. Manchester Half Marathon Fundraiser

I would like to inform you that Woon Cheng has raised £560 from running the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 15th October, and she completed it in 2hours and 30 minutes! We would like to give her a big thanks for her fantastic effort, to raise money for Wai Yin Society, and also to prepare for this race event. She is our STAR women runner. Well Done!

Royal Exchange Elders Day

We has a great time participating in Elders Exchange Day on Sunday 01 October. Part of National Older People’s Day and the Age of Creativity Festival, this is a national initiative, England’s first nationwide festival celebrating older people as makers and artists! The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, welcomed over 800 people into their building on Deansgate, city centre, to take part in conversations, improvisation, movement and writing workshops, screen printing as well as performers who presented Tai Chi, spoken word and a singing concert.
