Wai Yin's Mission, as set out in our Strategic Plan.
Wai Yin Society is an organisation led by Chinese women Which provides Education and Social Welfare services to minority communities in the North-West of the United Kingdom.

Core Values: Wai Yin believes in adhering to Confucius’ concepts of values and ethics. Our core values are based on themes in Confucian thought, but each theme is translated to be relevant to modern society.

  • Assertiveness As a service-provider we focuse on the needs of marginalised groups. Wai Yin firmly believes in cultivating assertiveness in staff, volunteers, service-users and society at large. The Society encourages people to voice their opinions, to act as advocates and to assert their rights with confidence. We aim to maintain a healthy dialogue with service-users to ensure that our activities and services remain user-led. We believe in empowering, emancipating and maximising human potential without discrimination.
  • Etiquette - Wai Yin Chinese Women Society is proud of its unique presence as a BME organisation in the community. The society celebrates the diversity of its staff, volunteers, service-users and associates. Wai Yin believes in promoting the positive expression of one’s own culture
  • Loyalty and Courtesy - Integrity Wai Yin emphasises the importance of trust between senior management, staff and all internal and external associates. The Society strives to be open and transparent in all its operations. Wai Yin believes it has a social responsibility to meet the needs of the community it serves and to provide services and activities with a social purpose. This social responsibility encompasses a commitment to environmental sustainability as the organisation constantly evaluates its impact on the environment and the legacy Wai Yin will leave for future generations.
  • Wisdom - Wai Yin is committed to providing quality services and to the spirit of continuous improvement. We are constantly engaged in a process of updating and adapting our knowledge and skills to maintain a highly skilled, effective and motivated workforce. We also rely on the opinions, experience and skills of our service-users to shape the future of the organisation.
  • Flexibility - Throughout the history of Wai Yin Chinese Women Society, the ability to adapt to the ever-changing pressures and needs of society, especially the needs of the groups that we serve, has been the key to our success. We believe in taking risks, accepting challenges and being flexible in the face of social, political and economic change.
  • Humanism - Benevolence We know that the organisation’s success is rooted in the talents, commitment and enthusiasm of our people and we are dedicated to caring for all staff, volunteers and service-users. Wai Yin strives to foster a spirit of mutual support, teamwork and empathy.
  • Fidelity to our Core Values We believe that all staff, volunteers and associates should display commitment to Wai Yin’s core values.
  • Adapting to change We welcome the challenge of a changing environment. We value and encourage new ideas, especially from staff members. We strive to anticipate and react positively to change on a wider scale.
