Nathan has been with Wai Yin Chinese Women Society since June 2005. He was originally sent to Wai Yin as a placement for six months. His placement was on the condition that new employment was found. Nathan was fortunate enough to find a vacancy at Wai Yin, where he has stayed since December of that year.

During this time, Nathan has undergone a considerable change. Entering Wai Yin as a mild, timid placement, he has grown and matured immensely, and has developed many of his skills at Wai Yin, including the development of his training skills, with the Enterprising Skills programme. Having trained in Multimedia technologies and having worked for a large Further Education establishment, Nathan has had the opportunity to develop many of the skills in both of these areas.

Nathan is also working for our Family Learning Project as a tutor. He teaches the Basic ICT Course, which covers how to use the Internet and Email to improve your life and your families life at home.

Nathan has adjusted very well, being in a statistical minority at Wai Yin, being both non-Chinese and male. However, he often states that this is purely physical and that there are no minorities in any culture. His work with the Enterprising Skills project has seen him work with many different cultures, and his volunteer work in developing the website has seen his skills develop.

If asked about his work, he often says that he would never change his job for the world. Wai Yin has enabled him to find a sense of belonging and home, for which he is openly thankful.
