In Translation: Women, Migration and Britishness

A partnership between Wai Yin Chinese Women Society, Cumbria Multicultural Women’s Network, Europia, Manchester Art Gallery, and artists’ collective UHC, have co-curated a display inspired by MAG’s collection of Empire Marketing Board posters. 

The partnership worked together to explore issues of migration and identity.  Participants from the three women’s groups reinterpreted a series of 1920s to 1930s empire themed posters through a facilitated creative process.  Their works are displayed at Manchester Art Gallery alongside the poster exhibition.  The exhibition was launched on 25 Feb 2012 and the work will be on display for 12 months.
